Greetings From Your Principal

7/19/2022

Dear Mayer Students, Parents and Guardians,

It is with great excitement that I write this letter to welcome back our returning families and welcome our new families to the high school. Now that I have had a year to work with the faculty, staff, and students here in Mayer, we are ready to make a number of adjustments to what we do and how we do it to help our students succeed. We are also making adjustments to the expectations of the student body. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Mayer High School for another year and am excited about the experiences your students will have in our building.

Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to increase the tradition of success established by Mayer Unified Schools by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. We will focus on pride, character, and academic success. We will use data to drive instruction, and to provide consistent implementation of the curriculum in a rigorous manner so that student’s continue to increase their achievement.

All of us at Mayer High School are eager and excited to open this school year with many changes to the building, staff, and expectations. This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are challenging, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors; teachers, students and parents, are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment. My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year. I look forward to working with you as part of a team to help each student at Mayer meet their goals and have a successful school year!

Sincerely,

Tom Oppelt Principal
